About Golden
Golden is a small present day mining town located just a half-hour drive away from Downtown Denver. It’s situated next to Clear Creek and has impressive views being situated at the base of the Rocky Mountains.
It’s also home to the Coors factory where you can take a fun guided tour and try their fresh mountain water beers.
The city has a western vibe to it and there is plenty to do here. We recommend a day trip or staying overnight to fully explore what Golden has to offer.
As for transportation, you can easily get to Golden by car or take an Uber or Lyft.
Below we’ll share the best things to do, eat, and drink in Golden.
Best Things to Do in Golden Colorado
#1 Go On a Coors Brewery Tour

Coors Brewery Tour in Golden Colorado
We loved our visit to the Coors Brewery! The tour needs to be booked ahead of time at least 20 days out. The tour costs $20 and includes 3 (three) beer samples and an opportunity to try their coldest brew at the end.
On the tour you’ll learn how their beers are made and the long legacy of Adolph Coors.
#2 Visit The Buffalo Bill Museum and Grave AND Lookout Mountain Point
The museum is cool, but you want to come here for the view from Mountain Point! It’s an easy hike to get to the top.
We recommend bringing some snacks and having a picnic once you get to the top.
#3 Walk Along Clear Creek
Clear Creek runs along Golden. Along the creek you’ll find museums and plenty of areas to rest. It’s also a great place to enjoy nature.

Along Clear Creek, just next to the Golden History Museum is a box with stones and minerals that you can take. The Golden School of Mining typically replenishes the box over the weekend.

The Mine’s Museum of Earth Science is free to enter! It has two stories and here you can see an impressive variety of minerals from around the world!

The Foothill Art Center is a free museum and art community with rotating exhibits. You can also buy art from members of their art community.
