Horseback Trail Riding on Riverview Ranch retreat and western adventures

I just came back from a magical experience at the Riverview Ranch! I spent my 41st birthday here and absolutely loved everything about the ranch.

If you’re considering a stay at Riverview Ranch, check out my review to see if it’s worth booking.

About Riverview Ranch Retreat & Western Adventures

Riverview Ranch is a luxury hotel experience located in Alberton, Montana, just 45 minutes from Missoula Airport (MSO). The ranch is an all-inclusive retreat and adventure experience.

The main 8-room lodge is located on 1,200 acres and offers stunning views of Big Sky, Montana, which may also include dozens of grazing elk.

A separate 5-bedroom and 6-bath cottage is located not far from the lodge and is available for private bookings at $9,000 per night.

The ranch is also available for wedding bookings and private buyouts.

Address: 15250 River View Ranch Rd, Alberton, MT 59820

A Riverview Greeting

Upon arriving in Missoula, we were greeted at the airport by Baxter, the Guest Ranch Manager, and driven to the ranch. He explained the lay of the land and what to expect during our 3-day stay.

When we arrived at the lodge, we were warmly greeted by the team with champagne. Kayla, the GM, led us to our room and reviewed our itinerary for the next three days.

Lodging Review

Our King Suite room was the smallest, but it was still spacious. All of the rooms in the lodge have a lake view, complete with a balcony and private seating area, and a fire pit.

Our rooms also included a stocked mini-fridge, plush bathrobes, slippers, and bathroom amenities.

Here is a complete list of included amenities:

  • Twice-daily housekeeping
  • Stocked mini-refrigerator
  • Luxury linens
  • Plush RVR robe and slippers
  • Luxury bathroom amenities
  • Complimentary WiFi
  • TV & entertainment
  • Air conditioning
  • In-room safe
  • Complimentary laundry (24-hour turnaround)
  • 24-hour fitness center
  • Jacuzzi
  • Sauna
  • Cowboy hats (by American Hat Makers)

Food & Beverage Review

The food and beverage selection was PHENOMENAL!

Chef Dave, Tom, and their team curated a delicious farm-to-table menu, and everything was DELICIOUS. Chef Dave was previously a private chef for the legendary country artist and rancher, George Straight.

We enjoyed three meals each day together in the Lodge Great Room. It has mountain views with an option to dine on deck with weather permitting. There is also an option to dine down at the Lake House on the shore for family-style Western BBQ, and out in nature, picnic style, in between adventures.

The menu changes daily, and the team can accommodate all dietary restrictions and aversions. The team also remembered our beverage orders and preferences.

All food and beverages were included with our stay.

The all-inclusive beverage menu included beer, wine, tea, coffee, and mocktails.

Other items, such as reserve wine, cocktails, and hard liquor, were an additional cost. The team works together to curate seasonal cocktails that are ranch-themed.

During dinner, we were also offered flights of beer and wine so that we could discover our favorites.

Activities Review

Riverview Ranch Retreat Polaris 2x2 adventure what to wear adidas

I was surprised by how much I LOVED the activities. I was able to participate in activities that I would not normally seek out. Activities are scheduled daily, and the team greets you at the lodge to take you out onto the ranch for the experiences.

From their menu of experiences, I thoroughly enjoyed:

  • Polaris Tour (2×2)
  • Archery
  • Shooting/Gun Range
  • Trail Riding

During our Polaris tour, we were able to make a stop to hang out with the horses, Billy Bob, and Blue (Soren’s dog) in the pasture.

Staff Review

ALL OF THE STAFF were amazing! Everyone was attentive, professional, and ensured all our needs were met with immediacy and care at any moment of the day. We felt extremely taken care of. The team referred to us by name and remembered details of our orders, schedule, and preferences.

The team is also very flexible and accommodating. We were running late to our first activity of the day, and they were able to quickly prepare breakfast for us. Our activity guide, Soren, patiently waited for us to start our archery lesson.

Is the Riverview Ranch Worth It?

Absolutely! The experience was the perfect combination of adventure, relaxation, and degustation. I have already told everyone I know about the experience to inspire them to book this unique all-inclusive stay.

We can’t wait for our next visit to Riverview Ranch!

How to Book Riverview Ranch Retreat & Western Adventures

Riverview Ranch is part of the Small Luxury Hotels group and is available through their website and Hilton Hotels.

Our King suite was $4,800 per night (subject to taxes). This unique experience was definitely worth it.

We recommend at least 3-4 nights to fully experience everything the ranch has to offer. While we were there, another family booked 5 nights and were able to repeat their favorite activities.
